New Education Reforms for Grade 6 from Next Year – PM

Harini Amarasuriya has announced that steps are underway to introduce new education reforms for Grade 6 starting next year.

The Prime Minister stated that arrangements are being made to entrust the printing of new textbooks to the Educational Publications Department Sri Lanka under the Ministry of Education Sri Lanka.

She made these remarks during a visit to pay her respects to the Chief Sanghanayaka of the Uva Wellassa regions and Chief Incumbent of the Yudaganawa Rajamaha Vihara, Rajakeeya Panditha Most Venerable Galtemwatte Nandarathana Nayaka Thero.

In addition, the Prime Minister highlighted plans to establish 50 vocational education centres offering modern courses across all 25 districts. The initiative aims to strengthen vocational training and ensure proper recognition and acceptance of vocational education pathways nationwide.

She noted that the reforms are intended to modernise the education system and expand opportunities for students beyond traditional academic streams.
