Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya Returns to Sri Lanka After Official Visit to the Philippines

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya has returned to Sri Lanka following her official visit to Manila, Philippines, which took place at the invitation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, she arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) last night (11).

During the visit, the Prime Minister delivered the keynote address at the International Women’s Day event held at the ADB Headquarters in Manila.

On the sidelines of the event, she also held bilateral discussions with several ministers of the Philippine government, focusing on strengthening cooperation and enhancing bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and the Philippines in areas of mutual interest.

Prime Minister Amarasuriya further met with ADB President Masato Kanda, where both parties reaffirmed the long-standing partnership between Sri Lanka and the Asian Development Bank.

In addition, Sonny Angara and officials from the Commission on Higher Education of the Philippines (CHED) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) met with the Prime Minister to discuss expanding Sri Lanka–Philippines cooperation in the education sector.

The discussions covered areas such as education policy development, teacher training, curriculum reforms, digital learning, higher education collaboration, research partnerships, and technical and vocational education and training, according to the Prime Minister’s Media Division.
