President Dissanayake, Qatar Amir Discuss Regional Tensions and Energy Stability

The Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, has held a telephone conversation with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to discuss regional developments and bilateral concerns.

During the discussion, President Dissanayake expressed Sri Lanka’s solidarity with Qatar, referring to the ongoing Iranian aggression affecting the country and the wider region.

The Amir reassured the Sri Lankan leader about the situation within Qatar, particularly the wellbeing of the Sri Lankan community residing there, and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and welfare of all residents.

The two leaders also discussed broader regional challenges, including escalating military tensions and their potential impact on global energy markets and supply chains. President Dissanayake stressed the importance of international coordination in addressing these issues.

The Amir highlighted Qatar’s role as a reliable energy partner and emphasized its commitment to maintaining stable energy supplies despite current challenges.

Both leaders underlined the need for strengthened regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions and promote stability, calling for diplomatic solutions to resolve the crisis.
