Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party, MP Ravi Karunanayake, speaking in Parliament, said that the country’s economy should be given close attention as the potential impacts of the war in the Middle East are very severe.
The MP said that if the economy remains strong, it has the ability to withstand and be resilient to any situation.
Pointing out that it is very important at this time, he said that such a situation has existed so far and it does not appear that the existing opportunities have been utilized for the economy.
The MP also suggested in Parliament that the most appropriate thing to do at this time is to strengthen the country’s capital.
He also said that the best way for the country to earn dollars and increase its income is to increase foreign investments.
