Revised water cut schedule continues across parts of Colombo

April 4, 2026

Scheduled water cuts in several areas of the Colombo District will continue today (April 04) due to prevailing dry weather conditions, the National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) announced.

The Board stated that, following requests from consumers, the originally planned 24-hour water suspension has been reduced to 18 hours. Water supply will now be restricted intermittently on a scheduled basis until April 10.

Several areas, including Padukka, Homagama, Palanwatta, and Pannipitiya, will be affected under this system.

According to the implementation schedule:

Padukka experienced a water cut from 8.00 p.m. on April 02 until 2.00 p.m. on April 03.

Homagama will face an 18-hour water cut from 8.00 p.m. on April 03 until 2.00 p.m. today (April 04).

Palanwatta is scheduled to undergo a water cut from 8.00 p.m. today (April 04) until 2.00 p.m. tomorrow (April 05).

The NWSDB clarified that these 18-hour water cuts in Padukka, Homagama, and Palanwatta will take place once every three days.

In addition, a three-hour water suspension will be imposed every other day from 10.00 p.m. to 1.00 a.m. in areas including Battaramulla, Pamankada, Wellawatta, and Nawala.

The Board further noted that uninterrupted water supply will be maintained on days when no scheduled cuts are in effect.
