Thundershowers expected across island with heavy rainfall warnings

The Department of Meteorology says showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in most parts of the island after 1.00 p.m. today (April 04).

Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely at some locations in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva, North Central and Eastern provinces.

Misty conditions are also expected during the early hours of the morning in parts of the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa, Uva and North Central provinces, as well as in the Kurunegala and Vavuniya districts.

The public has been advised to take necessary precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
