The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has decided to reduce the duration of planned water supply disruptions to 12 hours.
Accordingly, water supply to Homagama will be suspended today from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.
NWSDB Chairman Chandana Bandara stated that the current water management plan will remain in effect until April 10.
He further noted that if dry weather conditions persist without rainfall, a new water management plan may be introduced after April 15.
Meanwhile, a three-hour water cut will continue every other day from 10.00 p.m. to 1.00 a.m. in areas including Pamankada, Battaramulla, Wellawatte and Nawala.
The decision has been taken to ensure efficient water distribution, as water levels in the Labugama and Kalatuwawa reservoirs are rapidly declining.
