Food Prices Revised as Gas Costs Rise

April 6, 2026

The All Ceylon Restaurant Owners Association has announced a revision in food prices, with increases set to take effect from midnight today (6).

Accordingly, the prices of rice packets, fried rice and kottu will be increased by Rs. 20.

The Association stated that the decision was made due to the recent increase in domestic gas prices, which has raised operating costs for food vendors.

However, in contrast, the prices of ‘short eats’ will be reduced by Rs. 10 following a drop in coconut oil prices.

Chairman of the Association, Harshana Rukshan, said the revised prices will be implemented from midnight.
