Registrar General’s Department Launches ‘1930’ Hotline to Improve Public Services

April 9, 2026

The Department of the Registrar General has introduced a new instant hotline service under the number “1930” to provide more efficient and accessible services to the public.

Alongside the hotline, the department also launched a modernised official website, marking a significant step toward improving access to accurate and timely information.

The launch event was held under the patronage of the Minister of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government.

The 1930 call centre has been established using modern technology to enhance service delivery, allowing users to obtain information in Sinhala, Tamil, and English.

The department noted that gaps in communication between public institutions and citizens have often led individuals to rely on intermediaries, resulting in legal issues and concerns over document authenticity.

By offering verified information directly through the hotline and website, authorities aim to reduce such fraudulent practices and ensure a more transparent and reliable public service.
