Showers or thundershowers are expected in most parts of the island after 1:00 p.m. today (13), according to the Department of Meteorology.
Morning showers may also occur in parts of the Western, Southern and Eastern provinces.
Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely in several areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and North-Western provinces.
Misty conditions are expected in parts of the Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces during the early hours of the day.
The public has been advised to take necessary precautions against temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Meanwhile, due to the sun’s apparent northward movement, it will be directly overhead Sri Lanka between April 5 and April 15. Today (13), areas such as Pesalai, Mankulam and Nedunkerny will experience overhead sun conditions at around 12:11 p.m.
