China has expressed strong support for maintaining the ceasefire and continuing peace negotiations in the Iran conflict, emphasizing the importance of dialogue for regional and global stability.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi made these remarks during a phone conversation with Seyed Abbas Araghchi, according to Xinhua.
Wang described the current situation as a critical turning point between war and peace, noting that a window for diplomatic resolution has opened. He stressed the need to respect Iran’s sovereignty while ensuring the safety and freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
He added that restoring normal maritime activity through the strait is vital for global energy security and is a shared priority of the international community.
Wang also reiterated China’s readiness to promote de-escalation and support improved relations among countries in the region, in line with proposals put forward by Xi Jinping.
During the discussion, Araghchi briefed China on the latest developments in Iran–U.S. talks and reaffirmed Tehran’s willingness to pursue a practical and peaceful resolution.
He also expressed appreciation for China’s role in easing tensions, while Wang reaffirmed Beijing’s support for Iran in safeguarding its sovereignty and national interests.
