The Cabinet has approved the appointment of Iraj Chaminda Pathiraja, a Special Grade Officer of the Sri Lanka Administrative Service, as Controller General of Immigration and Emigration on a full-time acting basis.
According to the Cabinet decision, approval was granted at the meeting held on May 19, 2025, to appoint Pathiraja to the post in an acting capacity.
The Cabinet has also approved a proposal submitted by the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs to appoint him to the position on a permanent basis.
Pathiraja’s appointment comes as part of efforts to strengthen leadership within the country’s immigration and emigration administration.
