The Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka has announced plans to establish an independent regulatory system this year to enhance the quality of mobile and fixed-line telephone services across the country.
Director General Bandula Herath said that current regulation of telecommunications connectivity relies largely on data provided by service providers.
He noted that the new framework will introduce a more independent monitoring mechanism, aimed at improving oversight and ensuring better service standards.
The initiative is also expected to expand and strengthen coverage for both telephone and internet connectivity nationwide.
