Ravi: Governing Requires Solutions, Not Opposition-Style Criticism

April 14, 2026

Former Deputy Leader of the United National Party, MP Ravi Karunanayake, says governing a country requires practical solutions rather than criticism alone.

Speaking in an interview with ceylonwire.lk, Karunanayake stated that previous governments had also faced challenges similar to the coal deal controversies currently confronting the administration.

He argued that current issues cannot be resolved simply by blaming past governments, public officials, or external factors such as war.

“This is what I am trying to show — government is not about criticizing the world from the opposition,” he said.

Karunanayake added that effective governance involves identifying problems and presenting workable solutions, noting that this is the approach he believes should be followed in addressing national challenges.
