Young Woman Killed in Lightning Strike in Habaraduwa

A 25-year-old woman has died after being struck by lightning at a house in Kokwatte, Habaraduwa.

According to Sri Lanka Police, the incident occurred early this morning when a lightning strike hit the house, causing part of the roof and a wall to collapse.

Two young women who had been temporarily staying at the house were injured in the incident.

Police said one of the women sustained critical injuries and later died.

The other injured woman is currently receiving treatment at the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital.

Authorities have repeatedly advised the public to take precautions during periods of severe lightning and thundershowers.
