Former UNP Deputy Leader and MP Ravi Karunanayake has alleged that a group he described as “devil’s children” have infiltrated the party’s Working Committee, sidelining senior members who have served the party for many years.
Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo, Karunanayake said experienced party members had been overlooked in the current composition of the Working Committee.
He also stressed that the United National Party (UNP) and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) must unite without delay if their leaders and members are to ensure their political future.
Despite the current differences, Karunanayake expressed confidence that both parties would eventually come together under the existing leadership and emerge as a stronger political force.
