Netanyahu, Trump Agree to Hold Meeting in United States

July 4, 2026

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump have agreed to meet in the United States in the near future following a telephone conversation held on Friday, according to a statement issued by the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

During the call, Netanyahu congratulated President Trump on the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, describing the U.S. as a key defender of global freedom and expressing Israel’s appreciation for the close relationship between the two countries.

According to the PMO, the two leaders agreed to hold a meeting in the United States in the near future, although no date or venue has been announced.

The development comes amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at easing the conflict involving Iran and its regional allies.

Meanwhile, diplomatic talks between U.S. and Iranian representatives continued in Doha, with mediators from Qatar reporting positive progress on discussions related to a proposed 14-point Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). Officials said both sides had agreed to continue negotiations, with the next round of talks expected to be scheduled after the funeral ceremonies of Iran’s former Supreme Leader.

At the same time, Israel has reiterated that it will continue military operations against Hezbollah, despite the existing ceasefire arrangements with Lebanon.

Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Sharren Haskel stated that Hezbollah continues to pose a direct threat to Israel’s security and argued that lasting stability in Lebanon would require the group’s disarmament.

Separately, Prime Minister Netanyahu recently announced that Israel intends to gradually end its reliance on U.S. financial assistance, saying the country’s economy has grown strong enough to finance its own defence and development needs.

The planned meeting between Netanyahu and Trump is expected to focus on bilateral relations, regional security, ongoing Middle East conflicts, and broader strategic cooperation between the two allies.
