The total number of dengue cases reported in Sri Lanka this year has risen to 81,511, according to the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).
The NDCU said 61 dengue-related deaths have been recorded so far in 2026.
July has seen the highest number of infections this year, with 26,136 cases reported during the month to date. Combined figures for June and July have reached 47,670 cases, highlighting a sharp increase in dengue transmission over the past two months.
The Western Province remains the worst-affected region, accounting for 43,132 reported cases.
At the district level, Gampaha has recorded the highest number of infections with 17,280 cases, followed by Colombo with 16,213 cases.
Meanwhile, the National Dengue Control Unit has identified 175 high-risk dengue zones across the country and urged the public to eliminate mosquito breeding sites and seek prompt medical attention if dengue symptoms develop.
