Two young athletes from Kandy have qualified to represent Sri Lanka at the World Athletics Under-20 Championships, which will be held in the United States from August 5 to 9.
Saad Falil has qualified for the men’s 100 metres, becoming the only South Asian athlete to secure a place in the event.
Meanwhile, Athib Rifai will represent Sri Lanka in the 400-metre hurdles.
Both athletes are currently undergoing their final phase of training as they prepare for the global championship, with the aim of enhancing Sri Lanka’s presence on the international athletics stage.
