Sri Lanka has recorded 88,088 dengue cases and 63 deaths so far in 2026, according to the latest statistics released by the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU).
The NDCU reported that the country’s dengue case fatality rate stands at 0.07% this year.
Dengue infections continue to rise, with 2,739 cases reported so far in August. The highest monthly total this year was recorded in July, when 29,975 cases were reported nationwide.
Gampaha District remains the worst-affected area, with 18,739 dengue cases, followed by Colombo District, which has recorded 17,490 cases.
Health authorities have urged the public to take immediate measures to prevent the spread of dengue by eliminating mosquito breeding sites and maintaining clean surroundings.
The National Dengue Control Unit said it will continue to closely monitor the situation and called on the public to cooperate with dengue prevention efforts, particularly during periods of increased mosquito activity.
