Decline in Dengue Mosquito Larvae Density Observed

August 10, 2026

The National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) says a decline in mosquito larvae density has been observed across the country.

NDCU Director Dr. Kapila Kannangara said continuous efforts to eliminate mosquito breeding sites through mosquito control programmes, together with public cooperation, have contributed to the decline in larvae density and helped reduce the spread of dengue.

He urged the public to maintain clean surroundings and remove stagnant water to prevent mosquito breeding and further control the spread of dengue.
