The Department of Meteorology has issued a warm weather advisory for residents in the North Central and Eastern Provinces, as well as several districts including Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya, Monaragala and Hambantota.
The department said the heat index, which reflects the temperature felt by the human body, is expected to reach the “Caution” level in some areas during the daytime tomorrow (04).
The Heat Index Forecast is determined using relative humidity and maximum temperature to indicate the level of heat experienced by the body.
According to the Meteorology Department, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and outdoor activities could cause fatigue, while continued physical activity may result in heat cramps.
Residents in the affected areas have been advised to drink sufficient water, remain hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest parts of the day.
