Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage made history by winning the Men’s Javelin Throw at the Diamond League Final in Brussels, Belgium, held yesterday (05).
Tharanga became the first-ever Sri Lankan athlete to be crowned a Diamond League Champion.
He secured the historic victory with a sensational 89.04-metre throw, recorded on his third attempt, delivering a remarkable performance on the global athletics stage.
The achievement marks a major milestone for Sri Lankan athletics, with Tharanga etching his name into the country’s sporting history.
