Senior Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) figure and former National Transport Commission (NTC) Chairman Renuka Perera has been arrested by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC).
According to Newsfirst, the arrest is linked to allegations of corruption involving the issuance of 56 passenger service permits for the Southern Expressway.
The allegations concern the process through which the permits were issued during Perera’s tenure as NTC Chairman.
Authorities are expected to provide further information about the investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings.
The allegations against Renuka Perera have not been proven in court.
