A discussion has been held on the possibility of hosting the Miss Universe pageant in Sri Lanka, with a focus on promoting the country’s tourism sector and strengthening its international image.
The meeting was chaired by Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath and attended by Olivia Quido, Vice President for Global Partnerships at the Miss Universe Organization; Caroline Jurie, Mrs. World 2020 and Founder and Chairperson of Caroline J Global Holdings; as well as company co-founders and directors Nishan Deepal and Kusal Perera.
Minister Herath noted that hosting the international beauty pageant in Sri Lanka could provide an opportunity to promote the country’s tourism industry and increase international attention on Sri Lanka.
The discussion also focused on the potential to position Sri Lanka as a destination capable of hosting major international events through the organization of a large-scale global pageant.
