The Department of Meteorology has warned that atmospheric conditions are becoming favourable for afternoon thundershowers in several parts of Sri Lanka from tomorrow (01).
Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers are expected at several places in the Uva, Eastern and Central provinces, as well as in the Polonnaruwa and Mullaitivu districts, particularly after 1.00 p.m. today (30).
Fairly heavy showers exceeding 50 mm are possible at some locations in these areas, according to the Meteorological Department.
A few showers may also occur in coastal areas of the Western Province and in the Galle and Matara districts during the morning hours.
Misty conditions are expected in some areas of the Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces during the morning.
The Meteorological Department has urged the public to take adequate precautions to minimise possible damage caused by temporary strong winds and lightning associated with thundershowers.
