Warm Weather Advisory Issued for Several Areas

October 3, 2026

The Department of Meteorology has issued a warm weather advisory for residents in the Northern, North-Central and Eastern provinces, as well as the Monaragala and Hambantota districts.

The advisory, issued at 4.00 p.m. today (October 3), will remain in effect tomorrow (October 4).

According to the Department, the heat index, which reflects how hot conditions feel to the human body, is expected to reach the “Caution” level in some areas of the affected regions during the daytime.

The Heat Index Forecast is calculated using relative humidity and maximum temperature to indicate the level of heat experienced by the human body.

The Department warned that prolonged exposure to sunlight and outdoor activities could cause fatigue, while continued physical activity under such conditions could lead to heat cramps.

Residents have therefore been advised to remain well hydrated and limit strenuous outdoor activities.
