The US Navy combat ship USS Tulsa arrived at the Port of Colombo yesterday for an official visit, marking the second time the vessel has visited Sri Lanka within a two-year period.
The US Embassy in Colombo said the Independence-variant littoral combat ship is scheduled to replenish fuel and essential supplies at the Port of Colombo before departing for forward operations in the Indo-Pacific region.
The USS Tulsa previously visited the Port of Colombo in August 2025.
Commenting on the visit, US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Eric Meyer said visits by US naval vessels contribute to strengthening the friendship between the two countries and fostering ties between their naval personnel.
He also noted that such visits help build trust between the two countries.
The USS Tulsa is designed to support maritime security operations in the Indo-Pacific region, maintain naval presence and conduct joint operations with partner nations.
