The District Development Committee says measures are being taken to prevent flooding in Colombo and surrounding areas amid forecasts of heavy rain.
Speaking to News 1st, Committee Chairman and MP Lakshman Nipuna Arachchi said the measures were being implemented in accordance with recent instructions issued by Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.
The planned measures include urgently improving canal networks, removing accumulated garbage and waste, and ensuring that drains and drainage systems are properly maintained to allow rainwater to flow without obstruction.
