Commissioner General of Excise, M. J. Gunasiri, has announced that the revenue generated by the Department of Excise witnessed a notable surge of 38.5% in February this year compared to the previous year.
In addition, Gunasiri highlighted a decline in alcohol production by approximately 657,000 litres in January this year compared to the corresponding month in 2023, attributing it to the rise in alcohol prices.
Furthermore, the Excise Commissioner General disclosed the deployment of special teams across the island to conduct raids on illicit liquor during the upcoming festive season. Source – www.adaderana.lk
