Afternoon Thundershowers Expected; More Rain Likely from April 20

Showers or thundershowers are expected at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces, as well as in the Nuwara Eliya district after 1:00 p.m., the Department of Meteorology said.

Mainly dry weather will prevail across the rest of the island.

Misty conditions are likely in parts of the Western, Central, Sabaragamuwa and Uva provinces, along with the Galle and Matara districts during the early morning hours.

The public has been advised to take precautions against temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Meanwhile, the Department noted that atmospheric conditions are expected to become more favorable for evening thundershowers across most parts of the island from April 20 onwards.
