All schools are scheduled to begin the first phase of the first term of the 2026 academic year from tomorrow (05).
According to the Ministry of Education, government and government-approved private schools, as well as pirivenas, will resume academic activities from tomorrow.
The Ministry further stated that the first term of the 2026 academic year will be conducted in line with the circular issued on December 9, 2025.
Meanwhile, the 2025 academic year concluded on December 22 for Sinhala and Tamil schools, and on December 26, 2025, for Muslim schools.
