The Ministry of Health says around 250 patients suspected of having meningitis have been reported from several parts of the country so far.
According to Consultant Community Physician of the Epidemiology Unit, Dr. Harendra Dassanayake, suspected cases have been identified from areas including Deniyaya, Rikillagaskada, Diyatalawa, Welimada, and Kandy.
Health officials stated that fewer than 50 patients are currently hospitalized and receiving treatment.
