Asian Markets Tumble as US-Iran Tensions Escalate

March 23, 2026

Major Asian stock markets fell sharply on Monday as tensions between the United States and Iran intensified, with the conflict entering its fourth week.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 dropped by 4.8% in early trading, while South Korea’s Kospi declined by more than 5.5%.

Meanwhile, oil prices showed mixed movement, with Brent crude slipping about 0.8% to $111.25 per barrel, while U.S. crude remained largely unchanged at $98.18.

The market downturn reflects growing investor concerns over the potential economic impact of escalating hostilities in the Middle East.
