The Bribery Commission today announced that it will pursue legal action under the Anti-Corruption Act, 2023 and other relevant laws against individuals and institutions spreading false information and defamatory content about the Commission and its activities.
In a statement, the Commission noted that certain parties have been circulating baseless and misleading claims through electronic, print, and social media, which undermine public trust.
The Commission stressed that such actions not only damage its reputation but also divert public attention from key investigations currently underway, creating a distorted perception of the legality of its operations.
It further emphasized that the Anti-Corruption Act, 2023 grants the Commission statutory powers to safeguard its independence and ensure the impartial exercise of its mandate.
