The Project Management and Monitoring Department of the Treasury has prepared ‘Ministerial Results Frameworks’ for the period 2025-2029 for 22 line ministries and their subordinate institutions, aimed at institutionalizing results-based management in the public sector.
These frameworks are designed to help ministries achieve their development goals within the prescribed timeframe, ensuring the timely delivery of outputs and benefits to the public. They also aim to strengthen linkages between economic sectors and enhance public confidence in public investments.
The proposal, submitted by President Anura Dissanayake, in his capacity as Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, to integrate ministerial results frameworks into the annual action plans of each ministry and the strategic phases of the budget process, has been approved by the Cabinet. This approval marks a significant step toward institutionalizing results-based management in Sri Lanka’s public sector.
