The Association of Civil Aviation Employees has launched a trade union action from midnight on May 28, protesting unresolved issues related to overtime (OT) payments. The association announced that all its members have withdrawn from performing overtime duties and emphasized that the action will continue until a satisfactory resolution is reached.
In a separate development, the Union of Post and Telecommunication Officers is intensifying its own campaign. The union plans to hand over a memorandum outlining its key demands to the Minister of Health and Mass Media, Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa, today (May 29).
According to union representatives, the action will begin with a protest outside the postal headquarters this morning, after which participants will march to the Ministry of Health to deliver the memorandum.
The union commenced a two-day island-wide strike on the afternoon of May 28, citing 15 unmet demands. The ongoing actions highlight growing unrest across key sectors, as workers push for timely solutions to longstanding grievances.
