Colombo High Court to Deliver Decision on Bribery Case Against Ajith Nivard Cabraal on February 21

The Colombo High Court has scheduled February 21 to announce its decision on the reply submissions filed by the Bribery Commission in the case against former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal and four other defendants. The case alleges that the defendants caused a loss of over Rs. 1.8 billion to the Sri Lankan government through Greek treasury bond investments in 2012.

The hearing, presided over by High Court Judge R.S.S. Sapuvida, took place today (23). The defense previously raised preliminary objections, arguing that the case was not maintainable. In response, the Bribery Commission submitted its written reply to these objections during today’s session.

The court will deliver its ruling on the validity of the Bribery Commission’s submissions and the continuation of the case on February 21.
