The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has carried out approximately 600 raids across Sri Lanka to address issues related to the rice market. Officials confirmed that these investigations are ongoing to ensure compliance with regulations.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Customs reported the release of 35,600 metric tons of imported rice in recent days, boosting local supply.
To stabilize the market further, the government has extended the period for rice imports until January 10, 2025, providing an extended window for imports to meet domestic demand.
