CPC Introduces New Formula for Fuel Distributors, Replacing 3% Discount

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has introduced a new formula for fuel distributors, replacing the previous 3% discount with a system that offers higher benefits, according to CPC Chairman D.J. Rajakaruna.

Following this decision, the Fuel Distributors’ Association announced yesterday (28) that its members would refrain from ordering fuel starting today (01) in protest.

Despite the distributors’ concerns, CPC assured that the move would not lead to a fuel shortage in the country.

Explaining the new benefit structure, Rajakaruna stated:

“The first 15 loads are paid at Rs. 6.96 per unit, and the next 15 loads at Rs. 6.62. Previously, distributors handling around 25 loads earned approximately Rs. 1 million. Under the new formula, those handling 25 loads will receive Rs. 6.69 per unit, increasing their earnings to Rs. 1,103,850.”

The CPC maintains that the revised system provides a better financial outcome for fuel distributors while ensuring continued stability in the supply chain.
