The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) has announced that a fuel shipment is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on Thursday, April 2, 2026.
According to CPC Managing Director Mayura Neththikumara, the vessel will carry 32,000 units of diesel along with 8,000 metric tons of Jet A-1 aviation fuel.
Meanwhile, the CPC stated that a decision will be taken today regarding the fuel distribution procedure for tomorrow, as both today and tomorrow fall on odd-numbered dates under the current system.
Neththikumara noted that a discussion is scheduled to determine how fuel issuance will be managed under these circumstances.
Under the recently introduced system, fuel is distributed based on the last digit of vehicle number plates—vehicles ending in even numbers (0, 2, 4, 6, 8) are eligible on even-numbered dates, while those ending in odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) can obtain fuel on odd-numbered dates.
Authorities say further clarification will be provided following today’s discussions.
