Dengue Cases Rise Amid Rainy Weather

The National Dengue Control Unit says dengue cases have increased amid the prevailing rainy weather across the country.

Consultant Community Physician Dr. Prasheela Samaraweera said 1,276 dengue cases were reported this week, compared with 1,156 cases recorded last week.

A total of 99,634 dengue cases have been reported across the country so far this year, with 77 deaths recorded.

The highest number of cases has been reported from Gampaha District, which has recorded 21,136 cases.

Dr. Samaraweera urged the public to keep their surroundings clean and remove potential mosquito breeding sites, particularly amid the continued rainy conditions.
