DMT Issues Air Quality Warning, Advises Medical Attention for Breathing Difficulties

The Vehicular Emission Test Trust Fund of the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) has issued a warning about the deterioration of air quality, which has reached a moderate level.

Individuals, particularly those sensitive to air pollution, are urged to seek immediate medical attention if they experience breathing difficulties.

Slightly unhealthy air quality levels have been recorded in Galle and Ratnapura. The air quality index (AQI) is forecast to range between 64 and 108 throughout the day, indicating a moderate air quality level in most cities.

The highest pollution levels are expected between 7:30 – 8:30 AM and 1:00 – 2:00 PM. Air quality is expected to remain moderate in most cities across the country over the next 24 hours.
