United National Party (UNP) former Deputy Leader and MP Ravi Karunanayake has said it is indisputable that Sri Lanka’s economy was rescued from bankruptcy during the administration of Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Speaking to the media, Karunanayake said the current concern is that the country’s foreign reserves have not grown sufficiently since the change of administration.
He also alleged that the Central Bank has failed to adequately explain the reasons for this situation.
Against this backdrop, Karunanayake stressed that statements made by former President Ranil Wickremesinghe should not be taken lightly.
He said Wickremesinghe’s comments about the country’s future should not be dismissed, given his extensive experience in economic and political affairs.
Karunanayake added that anyone seeking to challenge Wickremesinghe’s statements would need to present stronger arguments.
