Global Finance magazine has conferred an ‘A’ award on the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe, at the 2025 World’s Best Central Bank Governor Awards. The event was held in conjunction with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Annual Meetings in Washington.
The award recognizes Dr. Weerasinghe’s prudent monetary policy, effective leadership in stabilizing Sri Lanka’s financial system, and strategic management amid challenging global economic conditions.
Global Finance annually ranks central bank governors based on policy credibility, inflation control, currency stability, and economic growth performance.
Under Dr. Weerasinghe’s leadership, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka has implemented key reforms to strengthen monetary stability, reinforce the banking sector, and rebuild confidence in the domestic economy, the magazine noted.
This international recognition marks another milestone in Sri Lanka’s steady progress toward global credibility and economic recovery.
