Enhanced Rainfall Expected in Several Provinces from Tomorrow

The Department of Meteorology has forecast a temporary enhancement of rainy conditions over the Eastern, Northern, North-Central, and Central provinces starting tomorrow (18).

Weather Highlights:

  • Showers or Thundershowers:
    • Likely in Uva Province and Matale and Nuwara-Eliya districts at times.
    • Several spells of rain are expected in the Eastern, Northern, and North-Central provinces, as well as the Hambantota District.
    • Afternoon or nighttime thundershowers are anticipated in Sabaragamuwa and Western provinces, as well as in Galle and Matara districts.
  • Winds:
    • Fairly strong winds of 30-40 km/h are expected in the Eastern slopes of the central hills, and in Northern, North-Central, Eastern, North-Western, Uva provinces, and the Hambantota District.
  • Misty Conditions:
    • Morning mist may occur in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central provinces, and in Galle and Matara districts.
