Government Moves to Revise Land Leasing Process for Cultivation

April 24, 2026

The government has initiated steps to update the process used to lease state-owned land to individuals for cultivation.

Chandana Ranaweeraarachchi stated that existing circulars governing the land leasing process require revision to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

An 11-member committee has been appointed to study the matter and provide recommendations.

Based on the findings of this committee, a new circular is expected to be issued in the future to streamline the process of leasing government land for agricultural purposes.
