The government has announced its intention to consider lowering the capital requirement for company registration in the future.
Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security, and Cooperative Development, Wasantha Samarasinghe, made this statement during the third reading debate of the budget in Parliament today. He was responding to a supplementary question from MP Ravi Karunanayake, who inquired whether a new legal framework could be introduced to support young entrepreneurs seeking to establish businesses with a capital of LKR 200,000 or 500,000.
