The Ministry of Power has announced plans to accelerate the implementation of 100 stalled solar power projects, aiming to add 500 MW to the national grid within this year.
Minister Kumara Jayakody stated that these projects, including solar plants with capacities of up to 10 MW, have faced delays due to deficiencies in approval documents. Efforts are now underway to resolve these issues and expedite their completion.
Additionally, the Ministry is reviewing 49 new solar power projects with a combined capacity of 4,000 MW. A dedicated committee has been appointed to oversee the process, including finalizing an agreement on the purchase price of electricity generated from these projects.
