Health Officials Warn of Rising Chikungunya Cases Amid Monsoon Season

Health officials have reported a surge in chikungunya cases across the country, attributing the rise to an increase in mosquito populations during the monsoon season.

Dr. Deepal Perera, Pediatrician at Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children, cautioned that chikungunya, a mosquito-borne illness similar to dengue, is spreading due to the Aedes mosquito.

Public Urged to Take Precautions

Dr. Perera advised the public to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds and adopt preventive measures to curb the outbreak.
